DECORATING THE CHURCH FOR HARVEST FESTIVAL

Anyone and everyone is most welcome to come along to help decorate the church – the more the merrier!  There will be a short meeting after service today.  Please get your coffee and come to the front of the church to find out more (if you’re not an old hand). If you just wanted to come along to support the ‘workers’ with serving coffee and biscuits on the Saturday before the service, it’d still be much appreciated.

ST ANDREW’S FIRST GAMES AFTERNOON (that we know of!) Sunday 21st October in the church

Please sign up at the back of the church if you would like to come along and try this out.   There’ll be a basic lunch of soup, bread and cheese followed by board games and jigsaws, for example (any other ideas welcome), finishing with tea and cake at 4pm.      There’ll also be the opportunity to comment, make suggestions and think about how you would like to be involved to make this a regular event.

 Reminder – TRADITIONAL CHORAL EVENSONG
FOR THE FEAST OF ST MICHAEL & ALL ANGELS (MICHAELMAS)
Sunday 30th September at 6pm at St Mary Magdalene, Willen

Reminder – 1st WEDNESDAY EUCHARIST & OPEN CHURCH  10am-12.45 pm on 3rd OCTOBER at ST. ANDREW’S FOLLOWED BY A LUNCHTIME MUSIC RECITAL by Apol Duo at 12 noon
Feel free to invite friends and neighbours. Hot drinks will be available before the performance, bring a packed lunch and ‘take a pew.’ Folk are welcome to come for all or any part of the morning. A retiring donation is welcomed.

Towards a Simple Faith held in Knowledge – next seminar (see over)
“Jewish literature in the time between the testaments significantly influenced the composition and content of both the Old Testament and the New.  On Wednesday we shall explore the impact of the first Greek translation (the Septuagint), the formation of the Apocrypha (the ‘forbidden’ books), and the development of Apocalypse (manuscripts that ‘unveil’!) Feel free to come and join in the discussion after coffee – you would be most welcome.”  John Beazley

Reminder – MEETING WITH PARKS TRUST PROJECT LEADER Next Sunday 7th October after service
Darrel Canvin, who is leading the Great Linford Manor Park development project for the Parks Trust, has kindly agreed to come and talk to the congregation and this is an excellent opportunity to hear from Darrel and find out more about the project.
